Required Training To Be A CNA In The State Of Delaware
Basic Requirements for Working as a a CNA in Delaware Prior to beginning your CNA training classess, you have to be positive that you have the qualities needed to be an excellent CNA, since the people that you are caring for are counting on you to give the best quality care possible. Specific Certified Nurse Aide Training Requirements
In Delaware State, CNA training programs are most often taught at community colleges and long-term care facilities.
All of the CNA education courses in the state of Delaware must follow the same regulations. The course must be at least 150 hours long, which consists of 75 hours of classroom training and 75 hours of clinical skills training in a long-term care setting, for example a nursing home. The training class must cover the following subject areas:

- Basic nursing skills;
- Principles of restorative care; and
- Providing care to a dying person.
Delaware State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Examination
After you complete your training class, you will be obligated sit for the Delaware CNA Certification Test, which is offered by the 3rd party testing company Prometric. The test will be made up of both written/oral and practical components. The price of the test is $118 for an oral and practical test, and $108 for a written and practical test.
CNA Orientation
Following the training course, you will be obligated to undergo an orientation at your place of employment, the length of which depends on the sort of Agency that you will be working for.
Typical orientation training subjects include:
- A tour of the facility,
- Review of fire and disaster plans,
- Communication and paperwork requirements, and
- A review of the care plan assigned for each resident or customer.
Additional CNA Training
A CNA that provides any care for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or any other sort of dementia must go through annual dementia training. This training must include:
- The proper way to communicate with people with dementia,
- The psychological, social, and physical requirements of those clients, and
- Safety measures that have to be taken with those people.
